tis the season

...to give away a gift to my blog readers!

I wasn't going to blog today. I was tired and didn't feel like it. But then, I went to the mall with the boys to get my son new glasses. We ended up not getting the glasses because Seth, whom we met there, had to go back to work. However, I did go to a little store called Bath and Body Works and fell in love with these:

These lovely bags are so cute and holiday-ish and I had to get...3. One for me and two for...two of you! If you want one, post a comment about one of your favorite Christmas memories and I'll put your name in a drawing and randomly draw two names. Then I'll post the 2 lucky winners on Friday.

Have fun!

PS--This is to "just another reader": I haven't forgotten that you asked me to post a link to the instructions on how to make the trees. I just don't have a link. I got the idea for the trees from the December issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine. Then I just improvised from there. I will tell you the supplies I used:

*stryofoam trees from Hobby Lobby (different sizes)
*assorted holiday scrapbook paper
*glue
*pearl beaded garland
*paint for the beaded tree
*glitter

Hope that helps some.

One of my favorite Christmas memories was when I was 6 or 7. I got cowboy boots. They were wrapped in fluorescent light bulb box. It was about 4 feet long and I found one boot in the end when I opened it and didn't find the other boot until I had gone all the way to the other end. I didn't figure out to just open the other end. It was a good gift anyway. Sandy

My favorite Christmas memory is the Christmas of 1965. Gary gave me my engagement ring, and although my mother wasn't especially pleased that we were engaged, Grannie was. We went to the Renner Christmas, and she was ecstatic. I will never forget how excited she was and how welcome to the family I felt. It has also turned out to be one of my longest lasting gifts because we will celebrate our 40th anniversary on Dec. 29.

Thank you for your lovely comments on my blog. Its been a hard winter for us so far.
I love the lil bags , too cute!
One of my fav Christmas memories was when My kids got the PS2...they wanted it soo badly and they were both at ages of really being wow-ed at Christmas by a gift like that and I will never forget their faces and their excitement! The reason I love Christmas, is seeing it through the eyes of my children. :)

Cute bags! I want in on this! ;)

My favorite Christmas memory is the first one I got to spend with Justin. We always split for the holidays when we were dating, and even engaged, to be with our own families. So, Christmas of 2003, our first one as a married couple, was spent with my family in Friona. The night before we left to go there though, we had our own celebration in our apartment in Dallas, opened presents, and talked for hours. It was wonderful!

Aw, I like Mom's.

Okay...this was actually pre-Christmas. It was mid-December 1992, the semester I studied in England. My friend Sallie and I had been out of school for about a week and we'd been travelling around and I had just about had enough. I was tired of sleeping in hostels and tired of crummy showers and tired of wearing the same pair of jeans and the same sweater every single day. I was just ready to go home. The day before we had to go back to London to fly back home, we were in Bath. We were trudging back to the hostel after visiting some Costume Museum, when we noticed that the Bath Cathedral was having an Evensong Carol service. We decided to hang around for it, and it was lovely. There was a choir of schoolboys and an adult choir, and they sang the traditional Anglican service plus a cantata. They sang the most beauiful version of O Little Town of Bethlehem I've ever heard. It was a perfect way to end my stay in England.

One of my favorite memories for Christmas....there are so many to chose from. I remember going to my grandparents on Christmas Eve for a big huge dinner and presents. We always had stockings with apples, oranges, and nuts! I remember getting a Pound Puppy one year too. (I still have it!) I always questioned how Santa knew to go to their house a day early...how does he know those things?

We have a cabin near Angel Fire, NM and when we were younger we would spend every other Christmas up there. What was different and special about that was that we would actually go out with my grandfather, pick a tree, cut it down ourselves, and take it home to decorate. Not too many folks get to actually go out on their own property and cut a fresh Christmas tree. Of course, we would check it as to avoid a National Lampoon/Griswald happening - no squirrels in the tree in other words! :)
